Getting Started

Host Pages. One of the simplest ways for you to get started is to build a Host Page. Building your own supporter page on Bringing It Home’s web site is a very simple process and is as easy as choosing a design and entering some information about why you have chosen to support Give Us Your Poor. The Host Page has directions that prompt you from one step to another - why not build your own site today? Click here to begin!

There are many resources available to support you as you get started, including:

The House Party Checklist. A helpful guide to hosting a house party to help Give Us Your Poor in our fight against homelessness. (Opens a PDF in a new window)

Sample Invitation. A professionally designed 4 x 6 invitation card that you can customize and use for your Houe Party. (Opens a PDF in a new window)

A Fundraising Coach. If you decide to coordinate a fundraising effort for Give Us Your Poor, a fundraising coach is available to support you every step of the way. Your fundraising coach is committed to providing you with guidance and resources to assist you in planning your fundraising effort.

Fundraising Conference Calls. For an up-to-date schedule and participation details, please contact us at info@bringingithome.org. The conference calls are hosted on a quarterly basis and are a great way to learn and share ideas and celebrate with other supporters.

Fundraising Guide. Have you ever been to a community fundraising activity, sports tournament or gala event and wondered how someone was able to coordinate all the details to make the event such a success? Bringing It Home offers its supporters a comprehensive fundraising guide, including event checklists, that provides all the information you will need to choose an activity, develop a plan, and coordinate a meaningful and enjoyable fundraising effort that generates funds and awareness for Give Us Your Poor.

The fundraising Guide includes resources in the following areas:
• Choosing An Activity Worksheets
• Event checklists
• Sponsorship information and samples
• Community resource mapping tools
• Ideas on how to build your fundraising team
• Event promotion samples and suggestions
• Volunteer recruitment ideas
• Sample letters and templates for letter writing campaigns
• Sample invitations
• Press release templates and “Working with the press” guidelines
• Auction and raffle guidelines
• Income and expense worksheets
• Charitable deduction guidelines and IRS regulations
• And much more!

Mentor Program. One of the goals of Bringing It Home is to make asking for money as easy and as positive an experience as possible. As Bringing It Home grows, it is important that we look for new ways to make fundraising easier and more effective for all involved. Some supporters will have experience in fundraising, while for others this will be an entirely new experience.

The Mentor Program is a resource for both of these groups. For the experience supporter, they have the opportunity to share the lessons they have learned and can serve as a resource to others who are planning their first fundraising effort. Remember teaching is learning twice.

For those that are new to fundraising, they can learn from the experienced supporters ways to be most effective and resourceful as they get involved.

The more the supporters of Brining It Home help one another, the more they will help Give Us Your Poor. Please contact us if you want to become a mentor or be connected to a mentor.
